As I write this, my guys (husband and Oscar) are watching football, my two littlest girls are napping and my middle two are joyfully playing Chutes and Ladders.
Moments like this are rare.
Everyone contently occupied and mommy actually has a moment to write(!!!).
A few days ago I wrote about my word for 2015 being Faithful, Today in church, our pastor started a series on Faith- Faith Goals or God Goals to be specific.
Coincidence? I think not.
He referenced John 3:4-6 (NIV)
4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.
What on earth does that have to do with goals or resolutions or a word for the year?
Well, think about it… If you have a resolution that is purely born of flesh, how far do you think you will get? How long before you give up because you can’t do it on your own?
If the goal or resolution is born of the spirit (God born or at least Him in the middle) your chances of succeeding are greatly increased! You have God on your side every step of the way guiding you, protecting you.
Goals fizzle because they are birthed in the flesh not the spirit. Our flesh can only carry us so far. At the same time, we have to make sure that everything which begins in faith continues in faith.
Pastor Bell coined a new phrase (acronym?) today. The PB WOW- Pastor Bell Words of Wisdom. (Yeah, he’s witty like that)
The PB WOW today was “Your life is a direct reflection of your goals and how committed you are in achieving them.”
That is so true.
I believe my word for the year was definitely a result of prayer and seeking. I believe with His constant help I will continue to change for the better from the inside out.
Through being in the Word and prayer, He will mold me in to the best (and most faithful) wife, mother and friend I am capable of being.
My prayer is that I will always rely on Him and never on my own abilities as I walk this life.
